Since our inception as the first fully transparent, brand safe network in 2005, Collective has been actively engaged in safeguarding online privacy. Our participation in the cross-industry, Digital Advertising Alliance, is part of our ongoing commitment to offer consumers and our advertising partners enhanced confidence and protection with regard online advertising.

OBA compliance
As a participant in the DAA program, as well as a member of the founding organization of the DAA - the IAB, DMA, 4As and the NAI - Collective has implemented the industry’s Self-Regulatory Program for Online Behavioral Advertising known as “Enhanced Notice.” The purpose of the Advertising Option Icon is to clearly inform consumers about how data online is collected and used, and to provide them the opportunity to opt-out.

Collective has partnered with Evidon (formerly known as the Better Advertising Project) to enable OBA notification on all ads placed through Collective's network. When Collective serves an ad, the Advertising Option Icon will automatically be served over the creative in the upper right hand corner. The industry has agreed on a standard set of specifications for how the OBA notification icon appears in ads.
If the user clicks on the icon, they will be taken to a page, hosted by the DAA, where they can op-out of being targeted for online advertising.
Collective also will enable the 28 publishers that use our AMP platform -- including EverydayHealth.com, AARP, and Internet Broadcasting -- to easily serve ads with icons powered by Evidon.
Data privacy
Collective screens all of our third-party data partners and publishers to ensure that their data collection practices fall within our strict standards. This includes a prohibition on working with partners whose practices are not in accordance with our policies.

About Online behavioral advertising
Online behavioral advertising -- also sometimes called "interest-based advertising" -- uses information gathered through your browser in order to predict your preferences and show you relevant advertising.

How Collective gathers and uses data
Collective uses non-personally identifiable (non-PII) data to better target advertisements and other content to individuals in an effort to create a more relevant experience for each person. The non-PII is also used to predict responses to advertisements, to help determine which ads perform best and which content is most appropriate for different individuals, and to provide aggregate reporting to advertisers and clients.

Consumer OBA opt out
If you would like to opt-out of being served OBA, we provide “opt out cookies” that will block OBA by Collective and prevent the placement of new Collective OBA cookies on your computer. If you have multiple Internet browsers or users on the same computer, you will need to perform the opt-out operation for each browser. If you or your anti-virus or other software deletes the opt-out cookies from your computer, if you re-install your browser, or if you delete your cookies, then you will need to repeat the process.
